The Regional Commissioner (RC) of Mbeya Region, Mr. Abbas Kandoro, has urged residents and surrounding communities of Mkwajuni Ward, in Chunya District to make optimum use of the newly established District Library at Mkwajuni.

The RC said this during the inauguration ceremony of the District Library at Mkwajuni on Thursday 15th December, 2011. “I feel proud and honoured to inaugurate another District Library in my Region……..This is the second one, after the another one that is based in Mbozi District.……..” Mr. Kandoro maintained.

Mr. Kandoro also took the opportunity to thank the Tanzania Library Services Board (TLSB) for agreeing to run the service, Chunya Council for making the public library building available for the same and Songwe MP, Hon. Phillipo Mulugo for initiating the establishment of the Library.

Earlier on, the Director General of TLSB, Dr. Alli Mcharazo, reiterated the commitment of his organisation (TLSB) to spread the public library service to all districts in the country.

TLSB has provided a total of 2063 volumes of books to this library, some furniture and a para – professional librarian and it will be run in partnership with Chunya Council.
