TLSB AND KEC SIGN THE MEMORUNDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

The Director General of Tanzania Library Services Board (TLSB) Dr. Alli Mcharazo and the Executive Director of Kibaha Education Centre (KEC) Dr. Cyprian Mpemba have signed the memorandum of understanding for running public library services at Kibaha Education Centre. The event took place on Thursday 26th, January, 2012 at Kibaha Education Centre, Coast Region. Dr. Mpemba of (KEC) expressed his gratitude to the TLSB Director General Dr. Mcharazo for this event commending that, “the cooperation started on this day is marking the beginning of building the bright future of Kibaha inhabitants by providing them with relevant information as to their fields of life.” Further, Dr. Mpemba urged the two sides to focus on modernizing library services at KEC as well as innovating other activities beyond library services for the betterment of the concerned citizens. In his words of appreciation, TLSB Director General Dr. Mcharazo thanked the Management of KEC for accepting to collaborate with TLSB in library services provision at KEC and insisted that, “there is a need of gaining efforts towards bringing library services closer to the community so as to address the setback of illiteracy which in really sense continue to embrace our nation”. On the other hand, Dr. Mcharazo clarified that, “as to the Act of Parliament No. 6 of 1975 TLSB is mandated to plan, set up, establish and run public libraries countrywide hence the cooperation officiated on this date between TLSB and KEC is giving TLSB strength to fulfill its functions. Coast region becomes the 21st region to have regional library services in the country. |
