Karen Sharkey of Book Aid International (BAI) paid a visit to the National Central Library on 26/07/2010. In her visit she had discussions with Tanzania Library Services Board Director General Dr. Alli S. Mcharazo, who thanked BAI for continuous support, not only on book donations but also on development of Children’s Library Reading Corners. So far BAI has Sponsored the refurbishment of, and the purchasing of equipments (TV, DVDs, game, toys) as well as syllabus books for 3 libraries, namely Children’s Multimedia Resource Centre (National Central Library Dar es Salaam), Morogoro Regional Library and Mbeya Regional Library. As a result of these improvements, the number of Children using these libraries has increased tremendously.

From the National Central Library Karen visited other TLSB libraries of Mwanza, Kagera, Arusha and Kilimanjaro to explore possibilities of assisting those libraries in up-lifting Children’s Services
