'On Monday, May 3rd 2010, Ms Taniguchi Tomoko, officially reported at the National Central Library to begin a two-year contract as a volunteer expert on ICT.
Ms Tomoko is among 15 volunteers who have come to Tanzania at the request of the government to work in various government organizations. These volunteers have come under the sponsorship of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Tanzania office.
Ms Tomoko, a graduate of Osaka University, has experience in web creation with HTML (hypertext markup language); CSS (cascading style sheets); handling hardware; prepare teaching materials and giving instruction; how to build networks and servers. She also worked for nine months at the circulation desk of Nagaokakyo Municipal Library in Japan. Before joining TLSB Ms Tomoko and other volunteers spent a month undergoing Kiswahili language training and acclimatization.
The Director General of TLSB and staff extend a welcoming hand to Ms Tomoko and thank JICA for their timely assistance.'
